News:

Out of Hours
After office hours and at weekends and Bank Holidays, the Out Of Hours Service for emergencies can be contacted by ringing 0845 3458995.

Urgent Appointments
We will see people with urgent appointments the same day and, we keep a proportion of appointments un-booked for this purpose.  If you call and request an urgent appointment, we will arrange for one of our practice nurses to call you back as soon as possible.  It may be possible for the nurse to deal with your complaint over the 'phone, or for you to have appointment with the nurse.  If the nurse cannot deal with your problem, she will book you in to see a GP.

Telephone Advice
If you need telephone advice from your doctor please leave your name and your telephone number and the doctor will return your call as soon as they are able to.

FLU ALERT
If you are suffering from flu-like symptoms the advice is to stay at home to avoid spreading the virus and contact your GP by telephone.

The Dispensary

Dispensary Opening Hours:

  • 8:30am to 6:30pm on weekdays only.
  • Closed at the weekends and Bank Holidays.

Patients who live outside a one-mile radius of Alliance Pharmacy in Faringdon may elect to collect their medication and appliances from The Fern Hill Practice Dispensary, (such patients are “dispensing patients”).

Other patients, (mainly those living in Faringdon) must take their prescriptions to a pharmacy, - (“non-dispensing patients”).

Dispensing patients also have the facility whereby they may collect their medication from either:

  • Southmoor Village Hall - Thursday pm
  • Stanford in the Vale Post Office - Wednesday pm
  • Uffington Post Office  - Friday pm

This facility is available for all dispensing patients but for those that have to pay for their medication we ask that a cheque be stapled to the repeat form at the time of the request.

We ask that requests for Post Office deliveries be clearly marked on the repeat form and patients are asked to allow 2 full working days before they collect. This allows time for collection, processing, any queries, dispensing and then delivery to the Post Office.

We shall endeavour to complete urgent requests for medicine by the end of the current working day.  Patients who need this service are asked to contact the surgery as soon as they can.  Patients will need to telephone us at 5pm to verify that we have managed to complete their request and they will be asked to collect either their medicine or prescription from the surgery that day.
