Are you looking after someone?
South & Vale Carers’ Centre can help you.
It’s free, friendly, & confidential. Advice, information & support for unpaid carers of all ages.
South & Vale Carers Centre (SVCC) is a well-established, registered charity, which was set up in 1994, to provide free & confidential advice, information & support for anyone who regularly helps someone they care about with everyday tasks.
The Centre can help carers & the person they care for:
- To increase income, by claiming Carers Allowance, Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance, or other Benefits & discounts.
- SVCC staff provide carers with a sympathetic listening ear, & emotional support
- Put carers in touch with a whole host of different support agencies.
- Help to put carers in touch with Social Services & Occupational Therapy.
- Help to arrange care or respite, so that carers can take some time for themselves.
- Put carers in touch with like-minded people, through organised trips out.
- Provide training & support with caring tasks, such as lifting & handling someone safely
SVCC expert Outreach Workers usually visit carers in their own homes, as this suits most people best in terms of their caring responsibilities, but people can also visit the Centre in Didcot, or receive information over the phone or by email.
